Basic Canine School- Basic Commands and Obedience Training

Our Canine School is designed to take the hard work out of training your dog for you. Your dog holidays at West Coast Pet Care Centre while our Qualified Trainers work with your dog for 3 weeks teaching him/her basic obedience commands and good manners like sit, drop, come, loose lead walking, leave, give, etc.

Each weekday our training staff will take your dog out for two 20 minute training sessions, a total of 10 hours training time per dog. We work on progressively improving your dogs general behaviour and training based on what you tell us you require/expect when you drop your dog off.

Our training methods put your dog in control of his/her life as we teach your dog how to get “what he wants” by doing “what we want” and gives your dog self control, which is the best and most effective method of control.

All our training uses positive reward based methods, the rewards we use for dogs depends on each individuals preferences, some dogs have food treats, some dogs have play or cuddles, some dogs are given toys, or a combination of these options.

At the end of the course you have a lesson with one of our trainers where we go through what your dog has learnt, how to continue the training when you get home and have you working with your dog under our supervision. During this lesson you will receive your “go-home package” consisting of your dogs progress report, certificate, a DVD showing your dog working with our trainers and your training manual designed to help as a reminder of the training whenever you need it. You will also receive a book on Dog Behaviour, Dog Lead, Treat Pouch And Collar (to match the one we used during Training).
All School trained dogs also receive FREE follow up lessons with our trainers for the rest of their life, all you need to do is make an appointment with us and you and your dog can come back in and work on any thing you wish. These follow up lessons are available for anything from helping overcome a negative experience to acting as a refresher to the training undertaken while your dog was in our care; you are also entitled to attend our Class Training lessons on Saturday Morning for Free.

Our Basic Canine School works with low level distractions, for higher distraction training, or a more disciplined result we have Intermediate and Advanced Canine School available.
