This course starts off the same as our Basic and Intermediate Academy courses, however, unlike both shorter courses, our Advanced Academy course will begin advanced heel work and off lead work with suitable canines (this is based on the individual dog/breed as some breeds should never be off lead unless they are in a secure area, eg Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, Beagles, and some individuals of other breeds may also be unsuitable).
Our Advanced Academy course will also focus on using much higher distraction levels with the dogs during the course, the distractions we use depends on the individual we are working with, we may use toys (like you see with the black Shepherd below), other dogs working in close proximity, horses or people coming very close to them, or using food and teaching dogs that they can only take the food when told it is acceptable.

Each weekday our training staff will take your dog out for two 20 minute training sessions, a total of 16hours and 40 minutes training time per dog. We work on progressively improving your dogs general behaviour and training based on what you tell us you require/expect when you drop your dog off.

Our training methods put your dog in control of his/her life as we teach your dog how to get “what he wants” by doing “what we want” and gives your dog self control, which is the best and most effective method of control.

All of our training is based on rewarding good behaviour, the rewards we use for dogs depends on each individuals preferences, some dogs have food treats, some dogs have play or cuddles, some dogs are given toys, or a combination of these options.

At the end of the course you have a lesson with one of our trainers where we go through what your dog has learnt, how to continue the training when you get home and have you working with your dog under our supervision. During this lesson you will receive your “go-home package” consisting of your dogs progress report, certificate, a DVD showing your dog working with our trainers and your training manual designed to help as a reminder of the training whenever you need it.
All academy trained dogs also receive FREE follow up lessons with our trainers for the rest of their life, all you need to do is make an appointment with us and you and your dog can come back in and work on any thing you wish. These follow up lessons are available for anything from helping overcome a negative experience to acting as a refresher to the training undertaken while your dog was in our care.
